  1. The following problems have been observed with the LANtastic(R)
  2. version 5.0 installation program.
  3.  
  4. 1)   LANtastic/AI Single Node Windows Installation - This will NOT
  5.      correctly serialize the Server or Redirector.  Problem report
  6.      #T03526
  7.  
  8. WORKAROUNDS - Perform a DOS install copy Redir.exe and Server.exe to
  9. a temporary directory and then perform the Windows install.
  10.  
  11. or
  12.  
  13. Create a separate subdirectory c:\lantasti\sysfiles, copy Redir.exe
  14. and Server.exe to this directory. Now run the install program.  When
  15. finished server and redir should be correctly serialized.
  16.  
  17. 2)   The remote print program Rpd.exe will not be installed when
  18.      using the 2mbps installation program. It also will not be
  19.      installed if you use the INSTALL UNPACK command.
  20.  
  21. WORKAROUND - Edit the file Install.fls, and add the line
  22. 2 WS RPD.EXE 
  23. to the bottom of the file above the *.
  24. Now run install or INSTALL UNPACK RPD.EXE C:\LANTASTI
  25.  
  26. 3)   We have seen several instances where a CDROM will no longer work
  27.      after running the install program.
  28.  
  29. WORKAROUND - Delete and recreate the cdrom resource.
  30.  
  31. 4)   We have had several reports that the install will create a large
  32.      seek cache.  If after installation you start getting out of
  33.      memory errors, run NET_MGR and check the seek cache size in
  34.      server startup parameters. Problem report #T03524
  35.  
  36. 5)   LANtastic 2mpbs Windows INSTALL will create a large FILE LOOKUP
  37.      cache.  The value appears to be random, at least 3 users
  38.      reporting this problem are reporting random values. Symptom:
  39.      Server will not load with out of memory errors. Problem Report

  42. WORKAROUND - Run Net_mgr and check FILE LOOKUP Cache.
  43.  
  44. 6)   If PROG-ROM v1.9 is run incorrectly using the IOBASE switch the
  45.      image will report a checksum error on load of NODERUN and REDIR
  46.      will not load from the boot server [will load from a floppy and
  47.      communicate, however]. Problem Report #T03514
  48.  
  49. WORKAROUND - Run the PROG-ROM program again and DO NOT issue the
  50. IOBASE switch.  Note that this switch should only be used with AE2/C
  51. AE2/T or AE3 adapters when using the Find/Found type of remote
  52. booting.

  54. 7)   LANtastic 2mbps Windows INSTALL will put random characters in
  55.      the ACCOUNT SERVERS field in Net_mgr, this will give cannot
  56.      locate network name errors on Login attempts. Problem Report

  59. WORKAROUND - Run Net_Mgr, set Account Server to DISABLED in Server
  60. Startup Parameters.
  61.  
  62. 8)   One cannot RUN the Windows Install from the harddrive - it must
  63.      be run from floppy. Problem Report #T03520
